حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ أَخْبَرَنِي سَالِم

ٌ أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ بَيْنَمَا رَجُلٌ يَجُرُّ إِزَارَهُ مِنْ الْخُيَلَاءِ خُسِفَ بِهِ فَهُوَ يَتَجَلْجَلُ فِي الْأَرْضِ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ

English Translation

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via 'Ali ibn Ishaq, from 'Abdullah [ibn Mubarak], from Yunus, from al-Zuhri, from Salim — that Ibn 'Umar narrated to him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'While a man was trailing his lower garment out of arrogance, he was swallowed into the earth and will keep sinking in it until the Day of Resurrection.'
