English Translation

It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via 'Affan, from 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Muslim, from 'Abdullah ibn Dinar — that he said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made a ring of gold, and the people made their rings of gold. Then one day he stood up and said: "I used to wear this ring" — then he cast it away. The people then cast their rings away [as well].'
