English Translation

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Musa [ibn Dawud], from Ibn Lahi'a, from Humayd ibn Hani', from 'Abbas ibn Julayd al-Hajri — that he said: 'A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of Allah, how many times should a servant be forgiven?" He remained silent. The man repeated [the question] and he remained silent again. The man repeated it once more, and [this time] he said: "Forgive him seventy times every day."'
