حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ أَخْبَرَنَا

نَافِعٌ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ قَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَخْطُبَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ حَتَّى يَدَعَهَا الَّذِي خَطَبَهَا أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ أَوْ يَأْذَنَ لَهُ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Abu al-Yaman, from Shu'ayb, from Nafi' — that 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade a man from making a marriage proposal over the proposal of his brother — until the first one who proposed either withdraws or gives him permission.'
