حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ عَنْ

نَافِعٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ أَيُّمَا مَمْلُوكٍ كَانَ بَيْنَ شَرِيكَيْنِ فَأَعْتَقَ أَحَدُهُمَا نَصِيبَهُ فَإِنَّهُ يُقَامُ فِي مَالِ الَّذِي أَعْتَقَ قِيمَةَ عَدْلٍ فَيُعْتِقُ إِنْ بَلَغَ ذَلِكَ مَالَهُ

English Translation

It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Hashim, from Layth, from Nafi' — that he said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Whichever slave is jointly owned between two partners and one of them frees his share — the slave is to be assessed at a fair value from the wealth of the one who freed him, and he is then freed [in full] if his wealth is sufficient to cover that."'
