English Translation

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Hashim, from 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn 'Abdullah ibn Abi Salama, from Ibn Shihab, from Salim, from his father — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Bilal calls the adhan at night — so eat and drink until you hear the adhan of Ibn Umm Maktum.' And Ibn Umm Maktum was a blind man who could not see — he would not call the adhan until the people said: 'Call the adhan, for morning has come.'
