English Translation

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Ishaq ibn 'Isa, from 'Abdullah ibn Zayd, from his father — that Ibn 'Umar used to dye his garments with saffron and anoint himself with it. When asked: 'Why do you dye [your clothes] with saffron?' he said: 'Because I saw it was the most beloved of dyes to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ — he used to anoint himself with it and dye his garments with it.'
