Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ أَخِي ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عَمِّهِ أَخْبَرَنَا سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ قَالَ طَلَّقْتُ امْرَأَتِي وَهِيَ حَائِضٌ فَذَكَرَ
عُمَرُ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ فَتَغَيَّظَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ قَالَ لِيُرَاجِعْهَا حَتَّى تَحِيضَ حَيْضَةً مُسْتَقْبَلَةً سِوَى حَيْضَتِهَا الَّتِي طَلَّقَهَا فِيهَا فَإِنْ بَدَا لَهُ أَنْ يُطَلِّقَهَا فَلْيُطَلِّقْهَا طَاهِرًا مِنْ حَيْضَتِهَا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَمَسَّهَا فَذَلِكَ الطَّلَاقُ لِلْعِدَّةِ كَمَا أَمَرَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى وَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ طَلَّقَهَا تَطْلِيقَةً فَحُسِبَتْ مِنْ طَلَاقِهَا وَرَاجَعَهَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ كَمَا أَمَرَهُ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Ya'qub, from the nephew of Ibn Shihab, from his uncle, from Salim ibn 'Abdullah — that 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar said: 'I divorced my wife while she was menstruating. 'Umar mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ became angry, then said: "Let him take her back until she has a fresh menstrual period other than the one during which he divorced her. If he then decides to divorce her, let him divorce her in her state of purity from that period, before having relations with her — that is the divorce for the 'idda as Allah (تعالى) has commanded."' 'Abdullah had divorced her with one divorce, and it was counted [as valid]. So 'Abdullah took her back as he had been commanded.
