English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Ya'qub, from his father, from Salih, from Nafi' — that 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar informed him: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ looked down over the people of the pit [al-qalib] at Badr and called out to them: "O people of the pit — have you found what your Lord promised you to be true?" Some of his Companions said: "O Messenger of Allah, are you calling out to dead people?" the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "You are no more able to hear what I have said than they are."'
