English Translation

It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via 'Affan, from Hammad ibn Salama, from Ayyub, from Nafi' — that the Prophet ﷺ, when he sat for the tashahhud, would place his left hand on his left knee and his right hand on his right knee, and would form [with his fingers] the number fifty-three [i.e., fold his fingers and raise the index finger for pointing], and would supplicate.
