English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Ya'qub, from the nephew of Ibn Shihab, from his uncle, from Salim ibn 'Abdullah — that 'Abdullah said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when he stood up for prayer, would raise his hands until they were level with his shoulders and say the takbir. Then when he wanted to bow, he would raise them until they were level with his shoulders, say the takbir while in that position, and bow. Then when he wanted to raise his back [from bowing], he would raise them until they were level with his shoulders and say: "Sami'a Allahu liman hamidah." Then he would prostrate, without raising his hands in the prostration. He would raise them in every rak'a and every takbir before the bowing, until the prayer was finished.'
