English Translation

It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Ya'qub, from the nephew of Ibn Shihab, from his uncle, from Humayd ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf — that 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar informed him that a man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the night prayer. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The night prayer is two rak'as at a time [mathna mathna]. When you fear that morning has come, make it odd with one [rak'a].'
