English Translation

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Ya'qub, from his father, from Ibn Ishaq, from Nafi' — that he told them: 'When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw [people] buying food from the caravans [al-rukban], he used to send someone to prevent them from trading in it until they had returned to their lodgings [rihal, i.e., the market proper].'
