English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Ya'qub, from his father, from Ibn Ishaq, from Nafi' — that when he was asked about the witr, he said: 'As for me — if I make witr before sleeping and then want to pray during the night, I make the witr I already prayed an even number [by adding one rak'a], then pray two rak'as at a time [mathna mathna], and when I finish my prayer, I make witr with one rak'a. For the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded that the witr should be made the last prayer of the night.'
