حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنْ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ وَسُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ كِلَاهُمَا حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ ع
ُمَرَ قَالَ وَلَقَدْ كُنْتُ مَعَهُمَا فِي الْمَجْلِسِ وَلَكِنِّي كُنْتُ صَغِيرًا فَلَمْ أَحْفَظْ الْحَدِيثَ قَالَا سَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ عَنْ الْوِتْرُ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ وَقَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَ أَنْ تُجْعَلَ آخِرَ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ الْوَتْرُ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Ya'qub, from his father, from Ibn Ishaq, from Muhammad ibn Ibrahim ibn al-Harith, from Abu Salama ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf and Sulayman ibn Yasar, both — from 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar. [Ibn Ishaq's father said: 'I was with them in the gathering but was young and did not retain the hadith.'] They said: 'A man asked him about the witr.' He mentioned the hadith and said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded that the witr should be made the last prayer of the night.'
