حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عِيسَى أَخْبَرَنَا أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اتَّخَذَ خَاتَمًا مِن

ْ ذَهَبٍ فَجَعَلَهُ فِي يَمِينِهِ وَجَعَلَ فَصَّهُ مِمَّا يَلِي بَاطِنَ كَفِّهِ فَاتَّخَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَ الذَّهَبِ قَالَ فَصَعِدَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمِنْبَرَ فَأَلْقَاهُ وَنَهَى عَنْ التَّخَتُّمِ بِالذَّهَبِ

English Translation

Safwan ibn 'Isa narrated to us, Usamah ibn Zayd informed us, from Nafi', from Abdullah (Ibn 'Umar رضي الله عنهما), that the Prophet ﷺ took a ring of gold and put it on his right hand, with its stone facing inward. The people then took rings of gold. Then the Prophet ﷺ discarded it and said: 'I will never wear it.' The people then discarded their rings.
