حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ حَدَّثَنَا نَافِعٌ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ سَاوَمَتْ بَرِيرَةَ فَرَجَعَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ
عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ الصَّلَاةِ فَقَالَتْ أَبَوْا أَنْ يَبِيعُوهَا إِلَّا أَنْ يَشْتَرِطُوا الْوَلَاءَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْوَلَاءُ لِمَنْ أَعْتَقَ

English Translation
Abd al-Samad narrated to us, Hammam narrated to us, Nafi' narrated to us, from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما), that 'A'ishah (رضي الله عنها) negotiated the purchase of Barirah. the Prophet ﷺ returned from the prayer and she said: 'They refused to sell her except on the condition that the wala' [loyalty/patronage] remains with them.' the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Buy her and set the condition for them, for the wala' belongs to the one who sets free.' She bought her and set her free. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood on the minbar and said: 'What is the matter with people who stipulate conditions that are not in the Book of Allah? Whoever stipulates a condition not in the Book of Allah, it is invalid, even if it is a hundred conditions.'
