English Translation

It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'As (رضي الله عنهما) — via Sufyan, from 'Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib, from his father — that he said: 'A man came to the Prophet ﷺ to pledge allegiance. He said: "I have come to pledge to you the pledge of hijra — and I left my parents weeping." He said: "Go back to them and make them laugh as you made them weep."'
