حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ دُكَيْنٍ حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ سَمِعْتُ سَلَمَةَ بْنَ كُهَيْلٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ كُنَّا جُلُو
سًا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالشَّمْسُ عَلَى قُعَيْقِعَانَ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ فَقَالَ مَا أَعْمَارُكُمْ فِي أَعْمَارِ مَنْ مَضَى إِلَّا كَمَا بَقِيَ مِنْ النَّهَارِ فِيمَا مَضَى مِنْهُ

English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via al-Fadl ibn Dukayn, from Sufyan, from Salama ibn Kuhayl, from Mujahid — that he said: 'We were sitting with the Prophet ﷺ while the sun [was low] over Qu'ayqa'an [a hill in Mecca] after 'Asr. He said: "Your lifespans compared to those of the nations before you are only like what remains of this day compared to what has already passed of it."'
