English Translation

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via al-Fadl, from Sufyan, from 'Abdullah ibn Dinar — that he heard Ibn 'Umar say: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made a ring of gold, and the people made rings of gold. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "I made a ring of gold" — and cast it away — and said: "I will never wear it again." The people then cast their rings away [as well].'
