English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via 'Abd al-Samad, from Hammad, from Thabit — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to a man: 'You did such-and-such.' The man said: 'No — by the One besides Whom there is no god, O Messenger of Allah, I did not do it.' He said: 'Yes, you did — but it has been forgiven for you on account of your sincerity [ikhlас].'
