Hadith #95
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ حَدَّثَنَا نَافِعٌ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ حَلَقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَحَلَقَ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ
هِ وَقَصَّرَ بَعْضُهُمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَحِمَ اللَّهُ الْمُحَلِّقِينَ مَرَّةً أَوْ مَرَّتَيْنِ ثُمَّ قَالَ وَالْمُقَصِّرِينَ

English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Hashim, from Layth, from Nafi' — that he said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ shaved his head, and a group of his Companions shaved their heads, while some shortened [their hair]. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "May Allah have mercy on those who shaved" — one or two times — then said: "and those who shortened."'
