English Translation

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Hashim, from Layth, from Nafi' — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made a ring of gold and used to turn its stone toward the inside of his palm when wearing it, and the people followed [suit]. Then he sat on the pulpit, removed it, and said: 'I used to wear this ring with its stone turned inward' — then threw it away — and said: 'By Allah, I will never wear it again.' The people then cast away their rings.
