English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via Hasan, from Ibn Lahi'a, from Huyayy ibn 'Abdullah, from Abu 'Abd al-Rahman al-Hubuli — that he said: 'Hamza ibn 'Abd al-Muttalib came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of Allah, appoint me as a governor [over some land]." He said: "O Hamza, [beware] — for governance is a trust, and on the Day of Resurrection it will be a source of regret and humiliation — except for the one who takes it with its [proper] right and fulfills the obligation [of justice] in it."'
