حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ أَبِي هِنْدٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ وَالنَّاسُ يَتَكَلَّمُونَ فِي الْقَدَرِ قَالَ وَكَأَنَّم
َا تَفَقَّأَ فِي وَجْهِهِ حَبُّ الرُّمَّانِ مِنْ الْغَضَبِ قَالَ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ مَا لَكُمْ تَضْرِبُونَ كِتَابَ اللَّهِ بَعْضَهُ بِبَعْضٍ بِهَذَا هَلَكَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ قَالَ فَمَا غَبَطْتُ نَفْسِي بِمَجْلِسٍ فِيهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمْ أَشْهَدْهُ بِمَا غَبَطْتُ نَفْسِي بِذَلِكَ الْمَجْلِسِ أَنِّي لَمْ أَشْهَدْهُ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via Abu Mu'awiya, from Dawud ibn Abi Hind, from 'Amr ibn Shu'ayb, from his father, from his grandfather — that he said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out one day while the people were discussing [divine] decree [al-qadar]. His face became flushed as though pomegranate seeds had burst upon it from anger. He said to them: "What is the matter with you, that you pit the Book of Allah against itself? By this were those before you destroyed." He [the narrator] said: "There was never a gathering of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that I missed which I envied myself for missing more than I envied myself for missing that gathering — because I was not there."'
