English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via Yahya ibn Sa'id, from Ibn 'Ajlan, from 'Amr ibn Shu'ayb, from his father, from his grandfather — that the Prophet ﷺ saw one of his Companions wearing a gold ring and turned away from him. The man threw it away and made an iron ring. He [the Prophet ﷺ] said: 'This is worse — this is the adornment of the people of the Fire.' The man threw it away and adopted a silver ring — and he [the Prophet ﷺ] remained silent about that [and did not object].
