حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا هَمَّامٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّ

هُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ كُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا وَتَصَدَّقُوا وَالْبَسُوا غَيْرَ مَخِيلَةٍ وَلَا سَرَفٍ وَقَالَ يَزِيدُ مَرَّةً فِي غَيْرِ إِسْرَافٍ وَلَا مَخِيلَةٍ

English Translation

It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via Yazid ibn Harun, from Hammam, from Qatada, from 'Amr ibn Shu'ayb, from his father, from his grandfather — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Eat and drink and give in sadaqah and wear [fine clothing] — without arrogance and without extravagance.' Yazid said on another occasion: 'without extravagance and without arrogance.'
