English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via Muhammad ibn Ja'far, from Sa'id, from Yusuf, from 'Amr ibn Shu'ayb, from his father, from his grandfather — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Three types of people attend the Friday prayer: A man who attends with supplication and prayer — he is a man who has asked his Lord, and if Allah wills He gives him and if He wills He withholds. A man who attends with silence and attentiveness — that is [fulfilling] its right [properly]. And a man who attends engaging in vain talk — that is his entire portion from it.'
