English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'As (رضي الله عنهما) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ibn Jurayj, from 'Amr ibn Shu'ayb, from his father — that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Whatever woman enters into a marriage with a mahr, a gift [hiba'], or a promise [made] before the marriage bond — it belongs to her. What was [given] after the marriage bond belongs to whoever it was given to [the guardian]. And the most deserving person for whom a man should be honored is his daughter or his sister [i.e., by giving a proper mahr for her].'
