English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'As (رضي الله عنهما) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from Ibn Jurayj, from 'Abd al-Karim al-Jazari, from 'Amr ibn Shu'ayb, from his father — that Zinba' Abu Rawh found his slave with one of his slave girls, so he cut off his [the slave's] nose and castrated him. He came to the Prophet ﷺ, who asked: 'Who did this to you?' He said: 'Zinba'.' the Prophet ﷺ summoned Zinba' and asked: 'What led you to do this?' He said: 'He did such-and-such.' the Prophet ﷺ said to the slave: 'Go — you are free.' He said: 'O Messenger of Allah, whose client [mawla] am I?' He said: 'A client of Allah and His Messenger.' the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entrusted him to the Muslims. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away, he came to Abu Bakr and said: 'The testament of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' He said: 'Yes — we will provide for you and your family.' He provided for him until Abu Bakr passed away. When 'Umar became caliph, he came to him and said: 'The testament of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' He said: 'Yes — where do you wish to go?' He said: 'Egypt.' So 'Umar wrote to the governor of Egypt to give him land [whose produce] he could live on.
