Hadith #215

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via Waki', from Sufyan, from Layth, from 'Amr ibn Shu'ayb, from his father, from his grandfather — that the Prophet ﷺ came out and heard the people disputing [about religious matters]. He said: 'By this were those before you destroyed — they pitted the Book of Allah against itself. The Quran was not revealed with parts contradicting one another; rather, parts of it confirm one another. What you know of it, act upon it; what you are ignorant of, refer it to those who know.'
