Hadith #216
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَاشِدٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ
عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَنْ حَمَلَ عَلَيْنَا السِّلَاحَ فَلَيْسَ مِنَّا وَلَا رَصَدَ بِطَرِيقٍ وَمَنْ قُتِلَ عَلَى غَيْرِ ذَلِكَ فَهُوَ شِبْهُ الْعَمْدِ وَعَقْلُهُ مُغَلَّظٌ وَلَا يُقْتَلُ صَاحِبُهُ وَهُوَ كَالشَّهْرِ الْحَرَامِ لِلْحُرْمَةِ وَالْجِوَارِ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via Waki', from Sufyan, from Jabir, from 'Amir — that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Whoever takes arms against us [i.e., Muslims fighting Muslims], he is not of us. And whoever is killed otherwise [not in clear self-defense] — it is quasi-intentional killing [shibh al-'amd]: [the blood money is] enhanced — thirty hiqqah [three-year-old she-camels], thirty jad'ah [four-year-olds], and forty khalifa [pregnant camels]. He is not to be executed [in retaliation], and the devil incites the people of brawls.'
