English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via Waki' and Ibn Numayr, from al-A'mash, from Shaqiq, from Masruq — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was neither obscene [in speech] nor one who deliberately cultivated obscenity. And he used to say: 'Among the best of you are those with the best character.' Ibn Numayr's version reads: 'Indeed the best of you are those with the best character.'
