حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ حَدَّثَنَا رَجُلٌ فِي بَيْتِ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو يُحَدِّثُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ قَالَ س
َمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ سَمَّعَ النَّاسَ بِعَمَلِهِ سَمَّعَ اللَّهُ بِهِ سَامِعَ خَلْقِهِ وَصَغَّرَهُ وَحَقَّرَهُ قَالَ فَذَرَفَتْ عَيْنَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via Muhammad ibn Ja'far, from Shu'ba, from 'Amr ibn Murra — from a man in the house of Abu 'Ubayda, who heard 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr narrating to 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar — that he said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Whoever causes people to hear of his deeds [for show] — Allah will make the listeners of His creation hear of him [to his disgrace] and will belittle him and humiliate him."' The narrator said: 'The eyes of 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar flowed with tears.'
