حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ أَبِي سِنَانٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ

بْنِ أَبِي الْهُذَيْلِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَعَوَّذُ مِنْ عِلْمٍ لَا يَنْفَعُ وَدُعَاءٍ لَا يُسْمَعُ وَقَلْبٍ لَا يَخْشَعُ وَنَفْسٍ لَا تَشْبَعُ

English Translation

It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via 'Abd al-Rahman, from Sufyan, from Abu Sinan, from 'Abdullah ibn Abi al-Hudhayl — that he said: 'the Prophet ﷺ used to seek refuge [with Allah] from knowledge that gives no benefit, a supplication that is not heard, a heart that does not humble itself [la yakhsha'], and a soul that is never satisfied [la tashba'].'
