حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَعْشَرٍ الْبَرَّاءُ حَدَّثَنِي صَدَقَةُ بْنُ طَيْسَلَةَ حَدَّثَنِي مَعْنُ بْنُ ثَعْلَبَةَ الْمَازِنِيُّ وَالْحَيُّ بَعْدُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي الْأَعْشَى الْمَازِنِيُّ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَنْش
َدْتُهُ يَا مَالِكَ النَّاسِ وَدَيَّانَ الْعَرَبْ إِنِّي لَقِيتُ ذِرْبَةً مِنْ الذِّرَبْ غَدَوْتُ أَبْغِيهَا الطَّعَامَ فِي رَجَبْ فَخَلَّفَتْنِي بِنِزَاعٍ وَهَرَبْ أَخْلَفَتْ الْعَهْدَ وَلَطَّتْ بِالذَّنَبْ وَهُنَّ شَرُّ غَالِبٍ لِمَنْ غَلَبْ قَالَ فَجَعَلَ يَقُولُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عِنْدَ ذَلِكَ وَهُنَّ شَرُّ غَالِبٍ لِمَنْ غَلَبْ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via 'Abdullah [ibn Ahmad], from Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr al-Muqaddami, from Abu Ma'shar al-Barra', from Sadaqa ibn Taysala, from Ma'n ibn Tha'laba al-Mazini — and the tribe was still living — that al-A'sha al-Mazini said: 'I came to the Prophet ﷺ and recited to him: "O master of mankind and judge of the Arabs, / I have encountered a sharp-tongued woman of the sharp-tongued. / I went out in Rajab seeking food for her, / and she left me in dispute and fled. / She broke the covenant and hid her tail. / And they [women] are the worst overcome by those who prevail."' the Prophet ﷺ kept repeating: '"And they are the worst overcome by those who prevail."'
