English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via 'Abdullah ibn Bakr, from 'Ubaydullah ibn al-Akhnas Abu Malik al-Azdi, from 'Amr ibn Shu'ayb, from his father, from his grandfather — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'No vow and no oath [are binding] in what the son of Adam does not own, nor in disobedience to Allah (عز وجل), nor in severing ties of kinship. Whoever swears an oath and then sees that something else is better than it — let him leave the oath and do what is better, for leaving it is its expiation.'
