حَدَّثَنَا عَتَّابُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُبَارَكٍ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ شَوْذَبٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَامِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَاحِدِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَقْسِمَ غَنِيمَةً أَمَرَ بِلَالًا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ فَنَادَى ثَلَاثًا فَأَتَى رَجُلٌ بِزِم
َامٍ مِنْ شَعَرٍ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعْدَ أَنْ قَسَمَ الْغَنِيمَةَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ هَذِهِ مِنْ غَنِيمَةٍ كُنْتُ أَصَبْتُهَا قَالَ أَمَا سَمِعْتَ بِلَالًا يُنَادِي ثَلَاثًا قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَمَا مَنَعَكَ أَنْ تَأْتِيَنِي بِهِ فَاعْتَلَّ لَهُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنِّي لَنْ أَقْبَلَهُ حَتَّى تَكُونَ أَنْتَ الَّذِي تُوَافِينِي بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'As (رضي الله عنهما) — via 'Attab ibn Ziyad, from 'Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak, from 'Abdullah ibn Shawdhab, from 'Amir ibn 'Abd al-Wahid, from 'Abdullah ibn Burayda — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when he wanted to distribute war booty, would order Bilal (رضي الله تعالى عنه) to call out three times. A man came with a hair halter [of an animal] to the Prophet ﷺ after the booty had already been distributed and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, this is from the booty I obtained.' He said: 'Did you not hear Bilal calling out three times?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Then what prevented you from bringing it [before]?' The man gave him an excuse. the Prophet ﷺ said: 'I will not accept it from you — rather, you yourself will be the one bringing it to me on the Day of Resurrection.'
