Hadith #53
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا حَيْوَةُ وَابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ قَالَا أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو هَانِئٍ الْخَوْلَانِيُّ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِيَّ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ قَدَّرَ اللَّهُ الْمَقَادِيرَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ بِخَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ
English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via Abu 'Abd al-Rahman, from Haywa and Ibn Lahi'a, from Abu Hani' al-Khawlani, who heard Abu 'Abd al-Rahman al-Hubuli say — that he heard 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr say: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Allah decreed [qaddara] the fates of creation fifty thousand years before He created the heavens and the earth — and His Throne was upon the water."'
