English Translation

It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via Abu Sa'id [freed slave of Banu Hashim], from Muhammad ibn Rashid, from Sulayman ibn Musa, from 'Amr ibn Shu'ayb, from his father, from his grandfather — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever is killed accidentally — his diya is one hundred camels: thirty bint makhad [she-camels in their second year], thirty bint labun [she-camels in their third year], thirty jidha'a [she-camels in their fifth year], and ten bani labun males [male camels in their third year]. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would value this according to camel prices — lowering when they fell and raising when they rose, according to the times. In his era it reached between four hundred and eight hundred dinars, or the equivalent in silver: eight thousand [dirhams].'
