English Translation

It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via 'Arim, from Mu'tamir, who said: my father narrated from al-Hadrami, from al-Qasim ibn Muhammad, from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr — that a man from among the Muslims sought the Prophet ﷺ's (ﷺ) permission [to marry] a woman called Umm Mahzul, who was a fornicatress and had stipulated that she would spend on him. He sought the Prophet ﷺ's permission or mentioned her matter to him. the Prophet ﷺ recited: {The adulteress shall not be married except by an adulterer or an idolater} [24:3]. He said: It was revealed — {The adulteress shall not be married except by an adulterer or an idolater}. ['Arim said: I asked Mu'tamir about al-Hadrami and he said: He was a storyteller [qass] and I have seen him. 'Abdullah (son of Ahmad) adds: Also narrated via Yahya ibn Ma'in, from al-Mu'tamir, from his father, from al-Hadrami, from al-Qasim ibn Muhammad, from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr — similarly.]
