حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي الرَّبِيعِ السَّمَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ إِيَادِ بْنِ لَقِيطٍ الْعِجْلِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي رِمْثَةَ التَّيْمِيِّ تَيْمَ الرِّبَابِ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَعِي ابْنِي فَأَرَانِيهِ إِيَّاهُ فَقُلْتُ لِابْنِي هَذَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَخَذَتْهُ الرِّعْدَةُ هَيْبَةً لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ إِنِّي رَجُلٌ طَبِيبٌ مِنْ أَهْل
ِ بَيْتٍ أَطِبَّاءَ فَأَرِنِي ظَهْرَكَ فَإِنْ تَكُنْ سِلْعَةً أَبُطُّهَا وَإِنْ تَكُ غَيْرَ ذَلِكَ أَخْبَرْتُكَ فَإِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنْ إِنْسَانٍ أَعْلَمَ بِجُرْحٍ أَوْ خُرَاجٍ مِنِّي قَالَ طَبِيبُهَا اللَّهُ وَعَلَيْهِ بُرْدَانِ أَخْضَرَانِ لَهُ شَعَرٌ قَدْ عَلَاهُ الْمَشِيبُ وَشَيْبُهُ أَحْمَرُ فَقَالَ ابْنُكَ هَذَا قُلْتُ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ قَالَ ابْنُ نَفْسِكَ قُلْتُ أَشْهَدُ بِهِ قَالَ فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَجْنِي عَلَيْكَ وَلَا تَجْنِي عَلَيْهِ

English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Rimtha (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abdullah [ibn Ahmad], from Sa'id ibn Abi al-Rabi' al-Samman, from Abu 'Awana, from 'Abd al-Malik ibn 'Umayr, from Iyad ibn Laqit al-'Ijli — from Abu Rimtha al-Taymi of [the clan] Taym al-Ribab, who said: 'I came to the Prophet ﷺ with my son. I showed him [the Prophet ﷺ] to my son, and I said to him: "This is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." My son began to tremble with awe of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I said: "O Prophet of Allah, I am a physician from a family of physicians. Show me your back — if it is a tumor, I will lance it; if it is something else, I will inform you. For there is no one more knowledgeable about a wound or an abscess than I." He said: "Its physician is Allah." And on him were two green garments, and he had hair which had been touched by gray — his gray hair being reddish [from henna]. He said: "Is this your son?" I said: "Yes, by the Lord of the Ka'ba." He said: "Truly your son?" I said: "I testify to it." He said: "Then indeed, he shall not be held accountable for you, nor shall you for him."'
