حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنَا حُيَيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو أَنَّ أَبَا أَيُّوبَ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ كَانَ فِي مَجْلِسٍ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ أَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقُومَ بِثُلُثِ الْقُر
ْآنِ كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ قَالُوا وَهَلْ نَسْتَطِيعُ ذَلِكَ قَالَ فَإِنَّ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ ثُلُثُ الْقُرْآنِ قَالَ فَجَاءَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَسْمَعُ أَبَا أَيُّوبَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَدَقَ أَبُو أَيُّوبَ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via Hasan, from Ibn Lahi'a, from Huyayy ibn 'Abdullah, from Abu 'Abd al-Rahman al-Hubuli — that Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (رضي الله عنه) was in a gathering, saying: 'Cannot any of you stand [in prayer] with a third of the Quran every night?' They said: 'How is that [possible]?' He said: '{Say: He is Allah, the One} [Surah al-Ikhlas, 112] is equivalent to one-third of the Quran.'
