حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ع

َنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ يَبْلُغُ بِهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا تَلَقَّوْا الْبَيْعَ وَلَا تُصَرُّوا الْغَنَمَ وَالْإِبِلَ لِلْبَيْعِ فَمَنْ ابْتَاعَهَا بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَهُوَ بِخَيْرِ النَّظَرَيْنِ إِنْ شَاءَ أَمْسَكَهَا وَإِنْ شَاءَ رَدَّهَا بِصَاعِ تَمْرٍ لَا سَمْرَاءَ

English Translation

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Sufyan, from Abu al-Zinad, from al-A'raj — traced to the Prophet ﷺ: 'Do not intercept merchandise [before it reaches the market]. And do not withhold the milk [tasriya — tying the udder to inflate the buyer's impression of the animal's productivity] in sheep or camels for the purpose of sale. Whoever buys one after that [having been deceived] has the choice of the better of two options: if he wishes he may keep it, or if he wishes he may return it along with a sa' of dates — not wheat [la samra'].'
