English Translation

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Sufyan, from Abu al-Zinad, from al-A'raj — that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Satan ties three knots at the back of one of your heads, striking at each knot: "You have a long night ahead — sleep on."' — and on another occasion: 'striking at each knot [to make him stay asleep through] a long night.' — 'But if he wakes and remembers Allah (عز وجل), one knot is untied. If he performs wudu, two knots are untied. If he prays, all the knots are untied and he wakes up in good spirits and energetic. Otherwise he wakes up in a foul mood and sluggish.'
