حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْنُ الْآخِرُونَ وَنَحْنُ السَّابِقُونَ يَوْ
مَ الْقِيَامَةِ بَيْدَ كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً بَيْدَ أَنَّ وَجَمَعَهُ ابْنُ طَاوُسٍ فَقَالَ قَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا بَيْدَ أَنَّ وَقَالَ الْآخَرُ بَايْدَ كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ أُوتِيَتْ الْكِتَابَ مِنْ قَبْلِنَا وَأُوتِينَاهُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ ثُمَّ هَذَا الْيَوْمُ الَّذِي كَتَبَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ فَاخْتَلَفُوا فِيهِ فَهَدَانَا اللَّهُ لَهُ فَالنَّاسُ لَنَا فِيهِ تَبَعٌ فَلِلْيَهُودِ غَدٌ وَلِلنَّصَارَى بَعْدَ غَدٍ
Isnad Chain
English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Sufyan, from Abu al-Zinad, from al-A'raj — that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'We are the last [to come] and we will be the foremost on the Day of Resurrection' — then [he elaborated:] 'every nation' — and on another occasion: 'save that' — [Ibn Tawus combined both versions, saying: one version said "save that" and the other said "contrary to every nation"]: 'Every nation was given the Book before us, yet we were given it after them. Then this day [Friday] which Allah prescribed for them — they disputed over it and Allah guided us to it. So the people follow us in it. The Jews have tomorrow [Saturday] and the Christians have the day after [Sunday].'
