‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سُفْيَانُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الْأَعْرَجِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ أَغْضَبُ كَمَا يَغْضَبُ الْبَشَرُ فَأَيُّمَا رَجُلٍ آذَيْتُهُ أَوْ جَلَدْتُهُ فَاجْعَلْهَا لَهُ زَكَاةً وَصَلَاةً ‏

English Translation

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Sufyan, from Abu al-Zinad, from al-A'raj — that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'I am only human — I become angry as humans become angry. So whatever man I have harmed or struck [out of human reaction], let it be a purification [zakat] and a prayer [blessing] for him.'
