‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سُفْيَانُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏لَيْسَ الْغِنَى عَنْ كَثْرَةِ ‏ ‏الْعَرَضِ ‏ ‏وَلَكِنْ الْغِنَى غِنَى النَّفْسِ ‏

English Translation

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Sufyan, from Abu al-Zinad, from 'Abd al-Rahman al-A'raj — traced to the Prophet ﷺ: 'True wealth [al-ghina] is not from having abundant worldly goods [al-'arad]. Rather, true wealth is the richness [contentment] of the soul [ghina al-nafs].'
