حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى ا
للَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يُمْنَعْ فَضْلُ الْمَاءِ لِيُمْنَعَ بِهِ الْكَلَأُ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ يَكُونُ حَوْلَ بِئْرِكَ الْكَلَأُ فَتَمْنَعُهُمْ فَضْلَ مَائِكَ فَلَا يَعُودُونَ أَنْ يَدَعُوا
Isnad Chain
English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Sufyan, from Abu al-Zinad, from al-A'raj — traced to the Prophet ﷺ: 'Surplus water shall not be withheld in order to thereby withhold herbage [al-kala'].' Sufyan [explained]: 'If there is pasture around your well and you prevent travelers from your surplus water, they would have no way to reach the pasture.'
