English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Sufyan, from Abu al-Zinad, from al-A'raj — [read to Sufyan and confirmed] from the Prophet ﷺ: 'If you say to your companion on Friday while the imam is delivering the sermon: "Be quiet" — you have committed laghw [idle, vain speech — which nullifies the reward of Friday].' Sufyan said: 'Abu al-Zinad said: That [word laghw] was Abu Hurayra's own expression.'
